| The Turning Point’s Leadership Development National Excellence Collaborative (TPLDNEC) returns to APHA to make available its "product package" of tools and models that can be used in leadership training programs and within state and local health departments to educate participants on Collaborative Leadership. Funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in 2000, the TPLDNEC is a multi-state collaborative whose mission is to "increase collaborative leadership capacity across sectors and at all levels." Its purpose is to influence national policy on leadership development. A four-year funded project, the collaborative, comprised of representatives from seven Turning Point states—Colorado, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Virginia-- and national partners, from organizations such as NACCHO, ASTHO, CDC, and HRSA, has conducted extensive research on the effect of collaborative leadership on community health improvement and how collaborative leaders in public health and other sectors learn collaborative leadership skills. As a result of this research and collaboration with a wide range of partners from community, state, and national levels, a package of Collaborative Leadership tools and models were developed to teach collaborative leadership skills. This package includes reading materials, training curricula, a video series, and a self-assessment tool. Each resource will be highlighted in the invited session and a limited number of packages will be available to session participants. The packages are available, for free, and requests can be made to the TPLDNEC and/or the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. | |||
| Learning Objectives: At the end of this session, participants will be able to: 1. Articulate benefits and challenges for implementing Collaborative Leadership practices. 2. Develop an understanding of how the various components of the "product package" can be used within their organizations. 3. Tailor the use of the various components to meet the needs in their work settings. | |||
