Issues such as violence, aggressive behaviors, substance abuse, and related problems among high-risk children, youth, and families have complex etiologies that require carefully crafted, long-term approaches. Such approaches need to simultaneously address individual, environmental, and systemic factors in a strategic fashion. This symposium will discuss the current status, future directions, and public health implications of the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Interdepartmental Initiative, an innovative program launched through an unprecedented collaboration among the Departments of Health and Human Services, Justice, and Education. | ||||
