„X This session showcases student research findings and provides a forum for
student researchers to engage in discussion on a personal level with other conference attendees. Numerous maternal and child health topics are presented, including individual, community, and system effects on maternal and child health outcomes, such as birth outcomes, racial/ethnic disparities in asthma among high school students, survival disparities in pediatric acute lymphocytic and myeloid leukemia, effect of child maltreatment on the development of alcohol and substance use, and survival disparities in pediatric acute lymphocytic and myeloid leukemia.
Session Objectives: „XObjective 1: Identify individual risk factors associated with maternal and child health outcomes
„XObjective 2: Examine effect of child maltreatment on the development of alcohol and substance use
„XObjective 3: Identify differences in maternal characteristics that may be associated with severe psychological distress in African-American pregnant women
„XObjective 4: Analyze system and community characteristics influencing maternal and child health outcomes, including birth outcomes, racial/ethnic disparities in asthma among high school students, survival disparities in pediatric acute lymphocytic and myeloid leukemia, and reproductive health outcomes
