Session Objectives: Panelist will present statistics on evaluation and analysis of pipeline programs throughout the state of Illinois and its effectiveness to increase the minority population within the health professions.
- Describe relevance of pipeline programs to the elimination of the health disparities
- Discuss challenges in recruitment and retention particularly relative to African American students
- Describe qualities of successful intervention that promote retention of AA and Latino students
- Describe importance of grounding students in knowledge and practical experience with under-served populations.
