Health organizations recommend mother-infant dyads exclusively breastfeed for the first six months of life and continue to breastfeed with complimentary foods for up to two years, and beyond. Achieving these recommendations once mothers return to work is challenging. This session will discuss the relationship between returning to work and sustained breastfeeding, workplace-support for breastfeeding, and relevant legal implications.
Session Objectives: Describe at least 2 challenges associated with continuing to breastfeed after returning to work. Describe policies and programs that support continued breastfeeding after a mother returns to work.
