Challenges and Strategies for Writing and Publishing in Maternal and Child Health

Monday, November 4, 2013: 8:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Oral
This session is devoted to discussion of publication in maternal and child health, including publication of research results, best practice, reviews, or methodologies. As acceptance rates in many journals are declining and publishing a paper is becoming more competitive, authors need to be aware of shifting standards and priorities in both the science and practice of maternal and child health, and in publication of manuscripts. As an essentially multidisciplinary, wide-ranging field, maternal and child health topics can often prove challenging to write and publish to appeal to a specific journal's audience. Further, many authors may be unaware of the review and editing process and how managing their submission could influence how its reviewed. As maternal and child health continues to grow as a scientific area of interest around the world, this session aims to help authors consider new strategies for creating and publishing their work.
