Public Health Nursing and the Practice Doctorate

Educational policy across health disciplines is decidedly favoring the conversion of existing clinical graduate programs to practice-oriented doctoral programs. This session will provide insight into the development of Doctor of Nursing Practice degree and the potential benefits for public health nursing.

Learning Objectives: 1. Analyze the public health policy implications of a practice doctorate for public health nurses. 2. Describe the development of the curriculum for the Doctor of Nursing Practice. 3. Compare and contrast competencies for the public health workforce with competencies for the Doctor of Nursing Practice.
