| In this session the learner will hear about Influenza infections and access to vaccines, pertussis outbreak at a summer camp for HIV-infected children and a post-marketing surveillance investigation of a possible relationship between anthrax vaccine adsorbed and optic neuritis in the U.S. military. | |||
| Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the session, the participant (learner) in this session will be able to: 1. Recognize that cancer patients have a high case-fatality rate if influenza becomes serious enough to require hospitalization. 2. Discuss the correlates of influenza vaccination access in eight neighborhoods in East Harlem and Bronx. 3. Assess the impact of HIV on pertussis acquisition and severity 4. Describe the post-marketing surveillance investigation techniques developed by the CDC's Vaccine Analytic Unit for studies of biodefense vaccine adverse events. | |||
