Health and Place: The Health Impact of Communities
In this session the relationship between different types of communities and health outcomes will be explored. Some of the papers included in this session define communities as “administrative units” (as in the cases of county and province level analysis), and others analyze communities at the neighborhood level. The peculiarities and challenges presented by such different approaches will be explored. The health outcomes analyzed range from age-adjusted mortality and years of life expectancy to disability rates and subjective health assessments.
