This session will focus on HealthierUS with an emphasis on nutrition and physical activity with a look towards 2005. The moderator will provide the overarching description of the President's HealthierUS Initiative emphasizing why the Initiative is critical to our nation's health. Panelists will address the collaboration and integration of key elements of the Federal nutrition assets: 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, USDA Food Guidance System (formerly the Food Guide Pyramid) and FDA Nutrition Facts Label, as well as the importance of physical activity. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, the participants in this session will be able to: 1. Articulate the relationship between the Dietary Guidelines,the Food Guidance System (former Food Guide pyramid)and Nutrition Facts Label. 2. Plan their own initiatives based on the timing/status of the 2005 Dietary Guidelines and new Food Guidance system. 3. Understand options for implementing physical activity into their program plans. | |||
