There is intense competition to communicate with Members of Congress and their staff (both district/state and Washington staff). Members of Congress and their staff have systems to communicate with constituents. Understanding those systems and the critical role of staff can help advocates to most effectively communicate and influence federal public policy.
This presentation will provide information on the structure of Congressional offices (House and Senate), Congressional office systems of communicating with constituents, the role of district/state and Washington staff, and the role of Committee staff. This presentation will review standard methods of communicating with Congressional offices (district/state and Washington staff) and offer information on effective communication and advocacy techniques.
