Food on the Run utilized a peer-based approach to improve the nutrition and physical activity environment at 26 low-income California high schools and to improve the nutrition and physical activity behaviors of students at the participating schools. Statistically significant changes were observed in the presence and promotion of healthy food items and in student nutrition behavior. Components, outcomes, and implications of Food on the Run will be discussed.
