This session provides an overview of complex environmental topics that are common in schools, the most densely occupied and most under-maintained of all indoor environments in which 51 million children 'work' every day. Topics inlcude emergency evacuations for new threats, documented hazards and health impacts from uncontrolled renovations of occupied buildings, siting of schools on or near hazarous facilities, developing a healthier cleaning program, changes in state policies for healthier indoor environments, and protocols for occupant health during renovation. | |||
Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of this session, participants will (1) become familiar with complex environmental topics that are common in schools; (2) be able to describe hazards and health impacts from uncontrolled renovations of occupied buildings; (3) become aware of changes in state policies for healthier indoor environments and protocols for occupant health during renovation. | |||
