Oral Session | ||||
| ||||
In this session, each presentation will offer a unique perspective to public health education for international health: a U.S.-based international health program seeking to provide U.S. students with the skills needed to work in other countries, distance-based programs that reach across geographic boundaries, and internationally-based programs that seek to improve the health care capacity in their country. Among the topics to be addressed are student field studies, collaboration with the United Nations organizations, government ministries, and practice-academic linkages with the national health system. Other presentations include an overview of the London School of Public Health’s distance learning program in health administration, challenges involved in development, maintenance, and evaluation of this program; and a South African distance education program in public health at the University of the Western Cape. Both programs seek to increase the capacity of local health professionals to administer health programs. | ||||
