Community Strategies to Address the Social Determinants of Health

This session will focus on the need to bridge theory to practice. The linkages between research and community need will be explored through the presentation of innovative research and evaluation methods of community health outcomes. Examples of specific strategies will be discussed to illustrate the need for community level participation in the development of health policies aimed at improving community health outcomes.
Session Objectives: Identify innovative research methods to evaluate community health outcomes. Discuss the usefulness of community based partnerships and community driven strategies in addressing health inequalities. Explain the role research, theory, and community participation play in developing effective health policies for local communities.
