Mobilizing a Public Health Campaign

Learn how to coordinate an effective grassroots campaign in support of a public health issue. Panelists will share their perspectives on the best ways to engage the public, lawmakers, the media and partners in support of a public health issue, giving participants an overview of the different components to putting together a successful advocacy campaign, such as planning a strategy, developing a message, obtaining funding and setting and achieving goals.
Session Objectives: Discuss best practices in coordinating an effective public health grassroots campaign. Identify the advocacy and policy tools and resources available through APHA and partner organizations. Describe successful advocacy efforts at the state and federal level from both the member and affiliate perspective. Discuss best practices in advocacy efforts related to coalition building and direct policymaker communication.
