Innovative Partnerships and Practices to Achieve Health Equity

Monday, November 2, 2015: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Oral
To better meet the needs of communities, multi-sectorial partnerships are needed to create a community-centered approach to promote health and health equity. A multi-facet approach must look beyond traditional health care and recognize the importance public health and human services agencies play in community development. These partnerships generate far more resources working as a team and the additional generation of resources improves the pursuit of health equity and community renewal. This session will share different approaches to community planning and development and offer best practices for the area of comprehensive community planning and creation of community level policy.
Session Objectives: Discuss the characteristics and benefits of multifaceted partnerships including community, academic, and business partners. Examine ways successful partnerships can leverage much needed resources to promote health and health equity. Identify the challenges associated with comprehensive community planning and policy development.
