This session will help public health professionals realize ways they can have a voice in public health advocacy and effect change in meaningful ways. I will describe advocacy efforts made by the Delaware Public Health Association, and share lessons learned through the advocacy process and suggestions for successful advocacy.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have worked in the public health and nonprofit sectors for over 32 years. I have been engaged in direct provision of care, advocacy, education and the effective leveraging of technology and social media. I have been the Executive Director of the Delaware Academy of Medicine / Delaware Public Health Association since 2007, after joining this 85 year old nonprofit in the summer of 2001 as their Director of Information Technology.
