A 21st Century Challenge: Putting Health in All Policies into Practice

The Pan American Health Organization is the first WHO region to have adopted a Regional Plan of Action on HiAP and, PAHO is now taking the lead in implementing this Plan of Action. On March 31 and April 1, 2015, PAHO hosted an Expert Consultation on the Implementation of the Regional Plan of Action on Health in All Policies. The primary objective of this exercise was to define concrete recommendations as to how the Regional Plan of Action on HiAP could best be operationalized within the Region of the Americas over the course of the next five years (2014-2019). The Consultation also provided an opportunity to engage in a dialogue that reflected upon what kinds of interventions have worked in the Region, what we can do to better address HiAP and what we should be doing differently to more effectively narrow the inequity gap through the HiAP approach.
