This presentation will focus on tobacco dependence treatment in oral health care settings, including providing an overview of Healthy People 2020 measures related to tobacco cessation and oral health, highlighting systems change projects related to tobacco use in dental clinics, and reviewing policy and treatment opportunities that can be leveraged to improve tobacco dependence treatment.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: I have worked in tobacco control for more than a decade, including five years with Free & Clear (now Alere Wellbeing) working with states to expand tobacco dependence treatment in health systems, and four years with the CDC’s Office on Smoking and Health working on policy, research, and programmatic issues related to tobacco cessation. I obtained my PhD in Behavioral Science from Emory University, and my Master in Public Health from the University of Washington.
