A brief review of the history of health reform in the United States shows a remarkable consistency of arguements for public vs private provision of health insurance coverage for all vs just some Americans.  Examples from the debates over health insurance from the New Deal to the ACA will be discussed.  The relevence of these debates to the continued efforts for universal coverage in the US will be discussed.

Discuss briefly the history of health reform efforts over the last 100 years. Compare the rhetoric of the debates over Medicare, the ACA and HR 676 that would to expand an improved Medicare to all.
