This presentation places elder abuse within the scope of work performed by public health professionals.  This is achieved by 1) framing elder abuse as a public health problem, 2) connecting elder abuse prevention to the accepted mission of public health as a service enterprise, and 3) describing public health’s past, present, and potential roles in elder abuse prevention. The presentation describes how each subsequent symposium presentation helps characterize public health’s unique and shared niches in the elder abuse prevention field.
