Who suffers when states are allowed to waive Medicaid standards?

In response to the growing public demand for states to take federal money to expand Medicaid, some conservative governors have asked HHS to approve waivers that would allow the state to add requirements, such as charging premiums and limiting services, which will make it more difficult for recipients to obtain high quality, affordable care.  The speaker will analyze recently approved and currently proposed waivers and will highlight the instances in which waivers contain requirements known to interfere with access to care.  The speaker will also address response strategies, including recent efforts to strengthen cross-movement collaboration between reproductive justice advocates and organizations advocating on behalf of low-income people.
