Early life experiences impact immediate and long term infant and child development, health, and well being. This session will look at the impact of policy, programs, place on infant and child health. Specifically, presenters will discuss initiatives that address multiple risk and protective factors in the early years of life including elective delivery, birth outcomes, home visitation and parenting. Information from the session with help to inform public policy, broader dissimination of evidence-based programs, and identify next steps needed to promote infant and child health and well-being.
Session Objectives: Assess the impacts early elective deliveries have on birth outcomes and infant mortality
Identify the strengths of employing a place-based multi-sector approach to achieve community transformation and improve birth outcomes.
Evaluate benefits of low-medium intensity home visiting on parenting quality
Explain the public health implications of the Legacy for ChildrenTM model’s outcomes
