Boys and men often adopt a position that because they don't "feel sick" they are healthy. Men will sometimes overlook the vital importance of cancer screenings for fear of the discomfort/pain that may be associated having to be treated or fully understanding a diagnosis of cancer. In addition to discussing various factors associated with choosing cancer screenings, this session will cover what factors affect men in their decision to participate in cancer screenings and seek treatment. Screenings to be discussed are prostate, colorectal and male breast cancers.
Session Objectives: Discuss male perceptions of screening for prostate, breast and colorecatal cancers. Describe the factors that influence culturally diverse men to get cancer screenings.
