This session will highlight emerging public health issues for Black women and girls living in the Southeastern United States. The presenters will showcase their research findings in the context of Healthography by analyzing how place affects access to health care and health outcomes for Black women and girls living in urban and rural communities in the Southeastern United States.
Session Objectives: Discuss the critical aspects in which geography affects the health of black women and girls living in the Southeastern United States;
Identify how health policy at the federal, state and local level creates opportunities for Black women and girls to improve health services in their communities; and
Analyze biomedical research findings to articulate the ways in which the use of Black women’s bodies advances clinical research.
