This session is designed to help new and seasoned advocates understand the restrictions surrounding lobbying and advocacy in the workplace. Panelists will address advocacy and lobbying laws and etiquette for employees in non-profit organizations, government agencies and other sensitive positions and the activities that public health advocates can participate in regardless of their employer and/or profession. Advocates will gain a better understanding of why advocacy matters, how to get involved and what APHA advocacy resources are available to them.
Session Objectives: Identify advocacy and lobbying laws and etiquette for employees in non-profit organizations and government agencies. Discuss effective activities that public health advocates can participate in regardless of their employer and/or profession.
