John Barile, PhD , University of Hawaii at Manoa, Honolulu, HI
Homelessness is associated with poor health outcomes but few studies have used a structural equation modeling framework to study the impact of homelessness on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Using a sample of 1061 mentally ill individuals obtained from a multi-site cross-sectional study we assessed the impact of homelessness, mental health care setting and behavioral risk factors on HRQOL.

Learning Areas:

Biostatistics, economics
Chronic disease management and prevention
Epidemiology
Social and behavioral sciences

Learning Objectives:
Identify predictors of health-related quality of life for homeless individuals, including behavior risk factors and experience with mental health services.
