Using CORE Group Tools in the Field
Monday, November 17, 2014
: 8:45 AM - 9:00 AM
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) is the global humanitarian organization of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. ADRA has a long and successful history of providing humanitarian relief and implementing development initiatives. ADRA’s mission is to work with people in poverty and distress to create just and positive change through empowering partnerships and responsible action. ADRA reaches across boundaries to achieve measurable, documented, and durable changes in lives and society. ADRA’s work is divided into five technical portfolios: food security, health and nutrition, emergency management, economic growth, and education. As a long-term member of CORE Group, ADRA frequently uses tools developed and/or promoted through CORE Group for designing, implementing, managing, and monitoring programs around the world. These have included integrated food security programs, family planning programs, nutrition interventions and maternal, newborn and child health programs. In South Sudan, ADRA relied on several CORE tools in the design and implementation of an integrated health and nutrition program. This presentation will focus on several field examples of how the tools have been applied and modified, as well as how they have provided feedback to CORE Group to improve resources for community health.
