Winston Wong, MD, MS , National Program Office, Kaiser Permanente, Oakland, CA
The Affordable Care Act included expectations for improved accountability for outcomes by health care providers.  Healthcare coverage represents a first step to achieving health equity but it’s insufficient.  This idea will be the focus of this presentation drawing on the lessons learned from a number of community workshops convened by the IOM Roundtable.

Learning Areas:

Other professions or practice related to public health

Learning Objectives:
Discuss the idea that health care coverage is the beginning, not the end, of achieving health equity. Describe the role of the IOM Roundtable in harvesting “lessons learned” for broad community dissemination and to inform public policy.
