Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health on the Post 2015 Development Agenda: Process, goals and strategy

This presentation will describe the current process for development of the post-2015 sustainable development goals; the numerical targets drafted; and the strategies underway to advocate for their inclusion.  While the world has made great strides in some areas of reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health, progress has been uneven.  Some key populations will continue to be disproportionately affected if significant attention and resources are not redirected urgently.  Additionally, while some countries will be able to meet the millennium development goals, others are far from achieving them.  For this reason, the RMNCH community has been using a number of strategies to target specific processes within and outside the United Nations to advocate that the health of women, newborns, and children not fall off the development agenda. This presentation will track where we have been and where we need to go in order to be as strategic as possible about setting RMNCH development goals for post 2015.
