This session will provide an opportunity for LI participants to   focus on the tactical and strategic processes for developing a targeted policy-     focused advocacy campaign plan. Based upon information provided in “Make the Plan/Work the Plan” and other sessions, LI participants will work in small groups to develop the key elements of advocacy campaign plans, including communication strategies for different local and state       policymakers and situations in selected case studies.

Describe different strategies for developing an advocacy campaign plan tailored to the needs and concerns of the policymakers Formulate plans for implementing evidence-based advocacy campaigns including preliminary research, engaging stakeholders, defining goals, tactics including communication strategies, addressing challenges and evaluating campaign

Romney, RN, MS, JD, MPH is currently an Assistant Professor at the Thomas Jefferson University’s School of Population Health in Philadelphia, where she teaches and conducts health services research. Ms. Romney teaches public health policy and advocacy, public health ethics and law, cultural humility and competency, and bioethics. Her research interests include health care disparities, access to care, health literacy, and medical-legal partnerships. Ms. Romney has nursing, legal, and pharmaceutical experience.
