Alameda County School-Based Behavioral Health Initiative: Implementing a 3-tiered School-Based Behavioral Health Framework across 18 school districts
This presentation will describe this framework and how it has created a common set of tools and language that support strategic collaboration between educators, service providers, funders, and evaluators. The following components will be described: training and technical assistance tools that engage partners; startegies that can be used by schools, districts, and providers to target improvements in existing school-based behavioral health systems; and an evaluation design that offers stakeholders opportunities to turn results into performance improvement. Our presentation will profile how our framework aligns with educational and public health models; describe the operational practices that support success, and how the model has been used over the last four years to launch and sustain the work and increase access to behavioral health care.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: Dr. Lisa Warhuus has 15 years of experience developing, planning, organizing, and directing health and family supports in schools. As a member of the executive leadership team with the Center for Healthy Schools and Communities (CHSC), she supervises all of CHSC’s school-based behavioral health (SBBH) staff, oversees all SBBH programs provided by CHSC, and provides administrative oversight for the county-wide School-Based Behavioral Health Initiative, which provides programs, services, and technical assistance to 18 school districts.
