Sarah Gillen , National Network of Public Health Institutes, New Orleans, LA
The National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) is a collaborative network of 39 organizations that work together to support multi-sector activities that result in measurable improvements of public health structures, systems, and outcomes. Since 2010, NNPHI and Prevention Institute have trained and supported nine public health institutes on the Community Tool for Health and Resilience in Vulnerable Environments (THRIVE). THRIVE was developed based on extensive research linking medical conditions to the community factors (such as living wages and local wealth; civic participation; and access to healthy, economically stimulating businesses) that can improve them. NNPHI and Prevention Institute have also worked together to train public health institutes on the THRIVE approach that engages leaders in efforts to promote community resilience.

During this session, NNPHI will share a brief overview of public health institutes and highlight accomplishments achieved by the nine institutes that have supported the implementation of the THRIVE approach in the communities they serve.
