Overweight and obesity are two of the leading causes of certian preventable chronic diseases in the U.S and the world. About 63% of U.S adults are either overweight or obese, while 50% of adult African Americans and 39% of adult Latinos are obese. American children do not fare better either, with about 25% of them classified as obese. This dangerous statistcal trend is on the rise, and some of the known culprits are: lack of pedestrrian and biscyclists infrsatructure, and grocery stores. This presentation will evaluate grassroot  and community level actions to reverse weight-gain and obesity, modify health behavior, discuss avenues to fund built environment infrastructure, and educate citizens about importance of physical activity and proper nutrition.
