My body, my life: Sex trafficking, sexual assault and health considerations for survivors

Sexual assault occurs across the life span for women, and it crosses cultural, socioeconomic, and age boundaries. Untreated sexual trauma can have lifetime consequences that affect a girl/woman’s self esteem, outlook, behavioral choices, and mental and physical health. From sexual assault to rape to child trafficking, this session will offer opportunities for discussion of solutions, policies and women's rights that are important in protecting the health of girls and women everywhere.
Session Objectives: Describe the populations at risk for rape;
Discuss the consequences of rape for differing female populations; and
List ways that policy, science and programs are addressing sexual trauma/rape crisis across the globe
