Drug overdose death rates in the US have more than tripled since 1990 and have never been higher. This important session will address challenges and explore innovative state and federal policies and interventions that are showing promise in reducing injury and death from this epidemic. There were many presentations on the topic sponsored by Sections in 2012, but none were cross cutting enough to bring together all sections. This session in intended to bring in high profile speakers on the topic and have wide appeal.
Session Objectives: 1) Discuss the extent and nature of the prescription drug overdose epidemic; 2) Compare strategies for combating the epidemic
