Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Anand completed her residency at Yale New Haven Hospital in 2003, her Masters in Public Health at Boston University in 2005, and her General Academic Pediatrics fellowship at Boston Medical Center in 2006. Since 2006, Dr. Anand has been the Pediatric Director at the Whittier Street Health Center in Roxbury, an underserved area of Boston. She has used her experience in community health to create innovative programs to improve care within the Patient Centered Medical Home. In 2006, she founded the Healthy Weight Clinic, a multi-disciplinary primary care obesity clinic that provides simultaneous access to a pediatric provider, case manager, and nutritionist. She is the Medical Director for the CAVU Healthy Weight Initiative, where she has provided medical oversight for replication of this model in seven additional community health centers in Massachusetts. In 2010, she co-founded the Fruit and Vegetable Prescription Program, a voucher program designed to improve access to fresh produce for low income families. Her work has been featured in Health Affairs, the Boston Globe, the New York Times, and CNN.
