Biographical Sketch: ROHIT RAMASWAMY
Rohit Ramaswamy is a Gillings Visiting Clinical Associate Professor in the public health leadership program at the Gillings School of Global Public Health, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Dr. Ramaswamy is directing a global distance education program to build the public health management skills of NGO and government staff which is being piloted in the United States and in ten countries in Asia and Africa. A key objective of the program is to blend on-line instruction with facilitated cross-country discussion forums emphasizing the application of the concepts to problem solving in everyday work.
His area of expertise is in organizational strengthening, focusing on qualitative and quantitative analysis to improve the performance of organizational processes and programs. Dr. Ramaswamy has worked extensively with non- profits such as the Educational Testing Service, ACT, CARE USA, UNDP and VA Hospitals as well as with corporations such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, General Electric, AT&T and Coca-Cola.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Masters and Ph.D degrees in Civil Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a MPH degree from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
