Biographical Sketch: Lisa Wexler received her PhD from the University of Minnesota and is currently at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, School of Public Health and Health Sciences. Her participatory research focuses on indigenous youth health, prevention and resilience. Over the last 12 years, she has been working with the tribes in Northwest Alaska to better understand, prevent and intervene in suicide and substance abuse, and to promote wellness and resilience. Her current research projects consider indigenous young people’s experiences growing up in the circumpolar North, focus on linking formal and informal helping systems, and exploring intergenerational venues for promoting activism and wellbeing.
