Objective: To verify factors that influence the oral health status of individuals with HIV/AIDS attended on public service of reference in Brazil. Method: It's a cross-sectional study that includes 177 individuals HIV+ that answered a questionnaire about social and demographic status, aspects related to HIV, habits, the use and satisfaction with the health service. The Oral Health Data were collected based on DMF-T Index, the use and necessity of prosthesis and Periodontal Index, according to World Health Organization's criteria, performed by a trained researcher (Kappa>0.081). Bivariate analysis and multiple logistic regression model were applied. Results: the average of DMF-T was 17.64 (±7.86). The majority of patients HIV+ showed good periodontal health (56.6%), 35.0% used some dental prosthesis, 41.5% needed upper prosthesis and 62.0%, the inferior. Multivariate analysis model pointed that the older found aged (p<0.001) and dissatisfaction with health service (p=0.010) were associated with the no use of dental prosthesis. To stop the antiretroviral therapy (p=0.050) increased the risk of people living with HIV/AIDS to show more than 3 decayed teeth. The presence of more than 9 missed teeth was associated with the follow variables: the oldest age (p<0.001), the lowest level of schooling (p=0.007) and the reason of consult to be the pain and caries (p=0.031). Conclusion: The poor oral health of PVHA was influenced mainly due social and demographic factors, aspects related to HIV, the use and satisfaction with the service.
