Institutionalizing and Promoting PHAB Accreditation through Public Health Programs
Institutionalizing and Promoting PHAB Accreditation through Public Health Programs
Tuesday, November 5, 2013: 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Oral
The national voluntary accreditation program for state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments was launched by the Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB) in 2011. PHAB accredited the first health departments in early 2013. The long-term success of this program will likely be greatly enhanced by the extent to which PHAB accreditation is linked to existing federal programs. This session will highlight how CDC and others are working to integrate accreditation activities across public health by including accreditation support in cooperative agreements, strengthening connections with programmatic objectives and metrics, and identifying links to evidence-based policies and practices.
Session Objectives: •Identify three ways accreditation is linked to CDC programs
•Describe how evidence-based practices are linked to accreditation standards
•Demonstrate how crosswalk documents can help to highlight the alignment between PHAB standards and other topics/metrics
