Recognizing and promoting health as a human right: What is the role of public health?

Human rights based approaches in public health are critical to providing universal, quality health to all and realizing the vision of eliminating health disparities. In this session, prsenters discuss challenges in realizing the global Right to Health, describe collaborations between human rights-based and public health advocacy communities to addressing health disparities through action on the social determinants of health, and identify opportunities for policy makers to draw upon lessons learned to improve health access and quality of care for all.
Session Objectives: Describe human rights based approaches to addressing health disparities and improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations whilst promoting the recognition of health as a human right.
