Community-academic partnerships combine research expertise and community wisdom to enhance the relevance, quality, beneficial impacts, and sustainability of public health research and practice. Moreover, these partnerships can be leveraged to mobilize stakeholders and enact systemic changes with far-reaching implications for community health promotion and the elimination of health disparities. In this session, panelists will discuss how the formation and growth of community-academic partnerships have helped researchers, organizations, and communities to overcome challenges, effect organizational and policy change, facilitate linkages between residents and their communities, and expand opportunities for continued collaborative work . Best practices and lessons learned will also be discussed.
Session Objectives: Discuss the benefits and power of community-academic partnerships in addressing complex public health issues.
Describe how partnerships can foster co-learning experiences and establish strong academic- community linkages to achieve widespread impact.
