Policies and strategies addressing the food environment as well as food quality, security, safety, and access

Health food access and the growing obesity epidemic are understood to be two of the most pertinent challenges both globally and nationally. This session sheds light on the role of local, state and national policy initiatives in addressing these challenges effectively; describes community, academic and givernment partnerships for improving healthy food access; provides data on healthy food perceptions; and discusses alternative strategies to improve healthy food consumption.
Session Objectives: Discuss healthy food initiatives, describe challenges in adoption and implementation of said initiatives, and examine the role of polict in omproving healthy food consumption and access.
