Legal Substances: Common Approaches Across Alcohol, Tobacco, Food & Pharma
Monday, November 4, 2013: 2:30 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Oral
IN a time of increasingly limited resources, public health practitioners are stretched to the limit, yet we continue to address many public health issues in silos. This session explores similar challenges & approaches that may be applied across alcohol, tobacco, prescription drugs, and food and opens a discussion of how the public health field can explore broader strategies that may more effectively use our limited resources and help unify efforts across substance areas.
Session Objectives: By the end of the session, participants will be able to identify similar public health problems related to alcohol, tobacco, prescription drug use, and food; describe the similar approaches that can be applied to all; describe the similar corporate influences that can challenge effective public health campaigns to address problems related to these legal substances
