This session is focused on the technology, and health information aspects of aging. The presentations will cover the following topics: technology use in informing older southern African-American men about prostate cancer screening; enhancing the health information literacy skills of older adults; a prescription for internet access:appealing to older adults through social media networks to combat colorectal cancer; and a fall prevention curriculum for community health workers.
Session Objectives: 1. To assess whether a computer-based IDM intervention for PrCa screening would be effective for older AA men. 2. To examine demographic and outcome measures of older BCIIS participants. 3. To assess the effectiveness of an interactive, hands-on, three-lesson series in enhancing older adults' health information literacy skills.4. To investigate health related factors associated with current social media use among adults 50 and older. 5. To discuss the training of community health workers to bridge the information gap to older adults regarding falls prevention.
