Fostering Healthy Kids: Discussions on Health, Safety, and Nutrition in Child Care

This oral session includes presentations of tools, methods, and programs developed to improve children’s health in child care settings. Specifically, the national health and safety checklist, quality improvement in obesity prevention efforts, and promoting coordination between child care and medical homes will be explored.
Session Objectives: Describe the development and pilot of a national health and safety checklist for child care settings. Formulate quality improvement methods to address obesity in child care and early education settings. Identify strategies for effectively improving relationships and care coordination between primary health care providers and child care staff.
