Incubating Global Health Leaders for the 21st Century: Equipping the next generation to tackle our world’s most pressing health challenges

In addressing ways to maintain future momentum in global health, the question of a leadership pipeline into the field is paramount. Tomorrow's leaders will be faced with rapidly evolving challenges, possibilities, and tools with which to respond. Today's undergraduate students must be equipped to thrive in the global health landscape they will inherit.

This presentation will explore emerging extracurricular approaches to developing global health leaders at the undergraduate level. Specifically, it will explore the ways in which student-led campus organizations featuring peer-driven learning and organizing, long term international partnerships, and collaboration across a global network can prepare undergraduates as global health leaders. The discussion will explore the extent to which such experiences are equipping students with a comprehensive toolbox to effect change from the community to the policy level.
