Intersections between federal HAI Efforts: Implications for Public Hospitals

In this presentation, we describe the history of and the positive intersections between five major, concurrent Federal quality improvement initiatives to prevent healthcare-associated infections (HAIs). In addition to the historical overview, we also identify future opportunities where these initiatives may intersect, in order to help healthcare facilities capitalize on the synthetic effect of these intersections.

Qualified on the content I am responsible for because: For the past four years, I have been an evaluator on the longitudinal program evaluation of HHS Healthcare Associated Infections National Action Plan (HAI NAP) for which I lead the qualitative analysis of the intersection between the HAI NAP and four other Federal quality improvement initiatives. My areas of scientific interest and research experience include quality improvement, healthcare-associated infections, and knowledge transfer.
